Doesn't seem to know much about gaming either. In his Microsoft article "goes mainstream", he is writing:
"Previous Final Fantasy games have been available ONLY on Sony consoles"
Yikes, it started on the Playstation as Final Fantasy VII. Everything before was a Nintendo-Famicom story.
Poor guy.
So they gave a good show and are going mainstream by copying Miis, Eye Toy, and giving us a new viva pinata. Quite creative.
Maybe somebody can tell me why? It does look like they downplay the DSL and try to spin good sales on the 360.
They should simply put them by sales order (or simply aphabetical):
DSL..159,611.......140,202... .......+14%
Wii....135,879.......99,754.. ........+36%
PSP...62,435........62,647... ........0%
PS3...59,246.......23,428.... .......+153%
360....56,331........43,086.. .........+31%
PS2...32,512........57,769... ........-44%
It's simply amazing that this is a "news".
Expect tons of games using it as well in the future : )
You said: "A good showing of LBP would of been sweet."
Wow, we have seen pretty much everything about LittleBigPlanet already. What else would you have wanted to see! On the other side, using LBP as a powerpoint to show usually boring stats was by far the best thing in the world they have done to show the potential of that great game. This was simply the greatest way to show one of the greatest game at E3.
But all three were not that impressive.
Sony: Tons of new IP and awesome LBP powerpoint: B+
Nintendo: Just for the microphone (much needed): C
Microsoft: Didn't learn anything new except FF: D
I guess I was expecting some new controllers from Sony and Microsoft.
Funnily, all the RPG devs are now screwed. Nobody was planning a RPG release in the next months because they would have had to compete with FF. So they were likely pushing for next year. Now, the joke is: FF was ready for the PS3 but will be put on ice until the 360 version is ready. So if any RPG devs were planning a much later release, now they have to push really hard to finish it quickly, or they have to delay it even more!. Strange world. But seriously, how many RPG were you expecting ...
I kind of agree with you, but I also agree with Gambare. Somehow, I'm pretty sure Sony knew about it, or at least about the fact that Microsoft was talking to Square Enix. But for sure, they didn't had much time to get ready since it's likely something that happened only very very recently.
Why? Simply because they said they didn't even started working on the 360 version yet, and looking at the rest of Microsoft keynote, they really, really needed something big this year and tha...
Second most serious flaw after the RRoD is simply the fact that not all 360s have hard drives.
Metal Gear is 50gig. Sure you could swap 6 disks, but that's pretty ugly. Plus they have announced that now games will have install on 360s. (Yep, getting FF likely pushed this announcement, because it's pretty big too). I'm sure other devs have told them that they basically had no choices as well.
So I now pity those Arcarde 360 owners. Sure, for now, the install won't b...
"what a great system they have made...with the new dashboard..netflix etc.."
You sum it all up. That was their main keynote (yes, I know, there's more to come), and all they could do is confirm what we already knew (like the exact date for Gears) or the progress on Fallout and Fable. That was truly mind boggling. I was amazed.
So basically, the only new stuff they came up with,(not counting FF) was a new dashboard (long, long overdue) and netflix (I guess ...
I few of them do not show a time right now though, so I guess they have not logged in a long time. For the others, it's cool to be anywhere in the world and be able to see that they last played 13 hours and 17 minutes ago : ) (hours only would have been fine with me!)
It's kind of multipurpose. It can crush numbers, but it's also designed to do whatever you want with images. Originally, Sony and Toshiba wanted it to be able to process multiple TV channels on one screen. Think about it. Every 52" and above HDTV should be able to show your 15 most favorite channel in one shot with extreme clarity. You can expect that feature to be really common in the future. Yes you can do it now, but usually, it's relatively bad.
So the Cell was also de...
Seem like you have to be a member of the Underground though. Didn't work with the link, but I saw a comment about it. So I went to my Underground account. There was a link there as well. Clicked on it, and got it right away. I guess they want to link all the accounts together? Who knows.
Just tried it again, and it does work. I have updated my avatar and info from the PS3 about an hour ago, and it was updated when I went back to it on the web. Very cool

It barely sold an extra 50K consoles worldwide! And that's during one of the best sale month of the years for gaming, since kids have lots of summer job money to spend on gaming still. That's when they started saying that software does not push hardware sales anymore...
"MGS4 was not going to sell Halo like numbers or even push the amount of consoles it did."
Wow, from memory, Halo 3 never sold more than 40K-50K (about 30K on first week, then peanuts on following weeks) EXTRA consoles. That was during the best gaming month too. (Fall, when kids have plenty of summer job money to spend). My memory is pretty bad, but I remember this was considered a flop, and that's when we saw all those articles saying that software no longer push hardw...
This is during a summer month. Way to go MGS! (Awesome game by the way)
Now, we will have to see what the price reduction will do to the 360, since they always say: "only generate a small bump for a short period of time". This was technically the Microsoft's answer to that big PS3 surge in sales.
Sure, you won't find tantalium capacitors in ALL electronic appliances, but they have been used for at least 30 years. They are great for their small size, so you will find them mostly in smaller appliances like mp3 players, cell phone, earing aids, etc. Since they are expensive, if you have enough room in your appliance, you will rather pick something else.
So small story but get big hits just by saying Playstation, but you're likely sitting less than 5 feet away from about 40 of those...
Wow, you're bang on. It's so blatant, it's not even funny! And yet, you already have two disagree... Could it be Art and his friends???
Writing such a bad article could only have had two reason. Getting hits, or really another anti-Sony website (gaming links point that way a bit). I really hope you're right and it's only for getting hits.
Bubble and agree for you. (And I don't give them away that easy : )
First, it has been proven that cutting price only generate a small bump in sales, for a very short period of time. It's even smaller during summer.
Two, they show the sales for the PS3, but forget to show the same sales for the 360... For those 5 months, the more expensive PS3 has outsold the 360 all the time. Why lower the price when you sell more anyway.
Three, Sony is not dropping the towel anytime soon. They will likely drop the price during the pre-Christmas m...
Yes, BluRay has a slighlty slower transfer rate than a dvd player. But ALL PS3 have a harddrive, so they heavily accessed stuff like textures to it. People complaint about game install, yet, it was the main point of the PS3 since they all have harddrives.
Now, to people who say that the 360 can run games with 512mb of memory, please wake up!!!! You cannot have graphic with no memory. Only application that could use like 480mb memory for calculation and 32mb for graphic would b...
It was long overdue and quite expected.
